A shadow moved silently through the whiteness, small flakes of snow settling in his long, coarse fur as they lightly drifted down from the heavens. His, vastly different, eyes were generally pointed at the ground in front of him, where steps landed rhythmically in the light snow; but every once in a while they would drift up to the silver-blue sky, searching for something undefined amongst the clouds.
But what the black wolf was looking for, ended up finding him; in the form of sound. A hoarse cry sounded below the sky-cover, making the boy stop and widen his ears as it reached him; "East! A lone bull! Older!" Yami couldn't help but mentally cringe at the simplicity of the call, yet for the situation it was appropriate; Though still unpleasant! Of course Ska'raa, the raven who was the origin of the cry, had to feel even worse, being the one to utter such boorish sentences.
None the less, the purpose was served, and the dark alpha started a sturdy trot in the given direction. Soon, he was met by a large bird, which floated down and turned in the air to settle its flight alongside him. Without slowing down, Yami acknowledged its presence with a tight smile and a wave of the ear. Following this matter of course pattern, the raven spoke without greeting, straight to the point; "It's just another half a mile up ahead." A court nod from the wolf showed that he'd heard the words, and the two continued in silence, until the center of the speech came into view.
A grayed reindeer bull was standing up ahead, rough muzzle sliding through the patches of heather in search for the few scraps of grass that could be found there. Two pairs of eyes watched it, from the cover of a few larger rocks nearby; one small and black, the other split between deep, midnight blue and bright golden. The scent of prey filled Yami's nose as he made his analysis of the situation, considering every detail and possible outcome; It should be easy enough... He had the wind carrying in his direction, and the heavy slowness of the bull to his advantage, everything was set.
It was the simultaneous jumps of two creatures that set the hunt in motion; wolf and raven, one springing forwards into a sprint towards the reindeer, the other swinging itself into the frosty air with heavily beating wings. A millisecond after, a third animal set in motion; the prey.
The chase was short. The strong wolf carrying himself with flexed muscles and long jumps, easily gaining on the old, large bull. A simple trick of driving the prey forwards and then pulling out into a tight curve opened the reindeers throat to the hunter, and he wasted no time in seizing his opportunity.
Ska'raa landed on the antlers of the dead bull, tilting his head to observe the carcass. Slowly seeping blood painted the snow read beneath the animal, and Yami stood triumphant over the body, crimson fluid invisible on his black pelt, but clearly staining both teeth and claws. "A good catch. But quite big for just the two of us." He noted before bowing down to open up the meal.
Not bothering to offer a response, the black bird jumped down onto the reindeer flank and immersed his long beak in the freshly bared meet. Yami shook his head; No manners..! Hunting had become much easier after he and Ska'raa joined ranks, raven and wolf forming an expert team that relied on each other's strengths and complimented each other perfectly... It would still be a waste to leave the remains though... He thought it rather absently as his own jaws parted to taste the fresh catch, driven by the primal urge of hunger; wonderings of leftovers would have to wait until his stomach had been filled.
