Turquoise waves brushed against the buff sand, forming thick, white foam where they collided with the bank. A hefty breeze brought warm air in over the shore from a southeastern direction, bringing along the scents of salt and foreign places. The wind spread small ripples across the warm pools that rested between diminutive cliffs on the beach, not affecting the tan and grey fish who swam in their tepid water; And all of it lay bathed in the scarlet light of the settings sun as the last of it was swiftly disappearing below the western horizon.
Amidst it all, hard to spot among the cliffs in the reddish light, sat a single, furry figure; bright, lime-green eyes gazing out over the waters where the moon was just beginning its journey in succession of the sun. His form was a stubby, rather rugged one, scars glowing pink through the rufous and bronze muddled pelt. As the light faded and the breeze grew colder, his form remained as still as the adjacent rocks, only the long whiskers at the end of the canine snout moving, as they waved slightly in the wind. Even his gaze remained still, constantly directed straight forward, trailing the pristine circle moving slowly up over the darkening sky.
"Bella luna... your glow never pales even in the darkest night." The voice was no more than a thoughtful whisper, uttered in a melodic, masculine voice holding a humbled tone. His ears twitched and it was as if his own decision to speak had broken the silent spell. Yawning widely, the wolf got up and stretched his stiff limbs, sore from the long way he had trotted over the past days; I've come far on my voyage. Far enough perhaps... Thoughts trailing off into a muddy land of mixed memories and old ideas, both good and bad, the man started moving along the beach, joining the path of paw prints where he had left it to watch the moon rise. After a few steps he stopped and glanced out on the waves, the rough edged, thoughtful expression on his face slowly giving way for one that closely resembled that of a much younger lupus. Then he jumped out into the water, shimmering as silver on ultramarine in the evening moonlight.
The liquid was chilly against his paws, the salt powerful in his nostrils, both making him bark out in delightful surprise; "Caspita!" A surge of energy flushed through his body, it'd been a long time since he'd felt so alive; I've missed the ocean! There was something about it that just made him feel more at ease, more home. It was like the smell of salt and the calls of seagulls overhead made him... whole. Maybe I can find a home here somewhere, near the shore..? Suddenly realizing himself to be so lost in thought that he had frozen in place, the water imperviously brushing against his legs, the boy shook his head and turned around to trot back to shore; being alone for this long might be starting to make me crazy...
