Most of Skeletos' populace uses "modern" languages (Any main, real-world language and its various dialects is considered "modern." Such as English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, et cetera). However, certain words are still used in terms of how Skeletos' culture uses it.
"Age" or "Aeon" = The distinct periods of Skeletos' history (like the U.S. has the "Industrial Age"). In Glasnost terms, however, Ages help the members of Skeletos determine specific time periods and tell what the general time of the year it is.
*
Glasnost has existed without humans for approximately three hundred years. Ages, on average, last 37.5 years (give or take several years depending on specific events). Wolves (especially those of Skeletos) don’t measure their time by minute, hour, day, etc. When normal terms such as year, decade, etc. are used it is merely a way of putting things in a perspective that is easier to understand. Skeletos does not use such terminology. Skeletos’ system goes like this: Current season, generation, Age, name of the current ruler, and the house the ruler belongs to. A shorter version, which most members of Skeletos will use, would be to list the generation and the Age.
Current Time Period:
Summer, the fifth generation of the Eighth Age under his Lordship, Dracul Maximus Serpentarius of House Serpentarius
Generation = A typical Skeletos generation lasts between six to eight years, or however long a healthy monarch lives.
"House" = A term used when grouping a specific family - usually an important family. For example, Herpaderp is of House Ermagersh.
Inkith (plural: Inkiths) = This has two meanings. The first is that the Inkiths were the first official pack that resided in the territory now owned by Skeletos (See Chronicle for an in-depth description). The second use for the word is derogatory - generally insulting a stupid individual or action. Example: "You Inkith! I could have died!" or "Run, Inkith!"
Mystic/Necromancer = The general words used to label individuals accused of or known for witchcraft.
Sayer = An affectionate word to describe an older wolf who likes to tell stories. This word can be used on certain occasions as offensive, speficially if someone is lying. Example one: "Your grandmother is quite a sayer. She knows many tales." Example two: "Stop gossiping, you sayer!"
The Event = The incident that wiped out the vast population of mankind on Glasnost.
Thrall = A slave.
Witching Time/Hour = Any frame of time when the sky is at its darkest, and/or when the moon cannot be seen (a New Moon).

In the simplest of words, Skeletos is a very old pack coming into a new age. Ancient traditions and modernism tend to clash and meld as society changes.

Skeletos is a land steeped in lore. Ancestors of the empire believed in such myths as the truth. However, as time moved forward, most assume these stories to be nothing more than pure fiction. This has not stopped them from being great storytellers. Pack-born members are usually great entertainers in regards to folklore and pack history. Storytelling is a combination of the truth and actual myths.
Draco –
According to official pack-legend, Draco was a beast of immense proportion. He has been described as a shapeshifter who would shift between a massive wolf and giant dragon. Stories describe him as herculean and black in color. His eyes were golden-orange like burning coals. Heat emanated from his scales or fur depending on what shape he had taken on. He would either grant the land the gift of prosperity, or destroy it with is fiery breath. To Skeletos, he is the symbol of both order and chaos.

The First Age: The Beginning
The aftermath of The Event devastated the vast majority of life across the continent. Wolves of this period had a very limited knowledge of humankind but with every generation such information became irrelevant. Those that survived, both predator and prey, had to figure out how to make do with limited resources. For the next four years the population of animals fluctuated between struggling and barely hanging on. This would continue for nearly three decades before a reasonable ratio of predators and prey began to develop.
The Second Age: The Inkiths
Nomadic packs made up for the majority of wolves on Glasnost. They roved, hunted, and raided wherever food was available. Few packs at the time had definitive territory markers. The earliest individuals to have carved out their own region were the Inkiths. They were a deeply tribal pack and by that time they had developed a rough form of leadership. The Inkiths would tell stories, which would eventually become myths, about two-legged beasts that were destroyed by a plague. They did not know that humans had been real beings. This age lasted for nearly forty years.
The Third Age: Reign of the Tands
After a while a particular family, the Tands, began to rule the Inkiths in the method of a hereditary monarchy. They were a particularly vicious group and succeeded every generation without fail. The Tands ruled a total of seven generations until the subordinate body of Inkiths grew tired of the Tands’ oppressive nature. Kalad Tand was the first true ruler of the Inkiths from the Tand family. The last member of the Tand family to rule was Amanen.
The Fourth Age: Reign of the Vyncises
Galasaer Vyncise was the patriarch of his family. He led a rebel group of Inkiths against the Tands and was crowned the victor in a duel against Amanen. He exercised a lighter degree of authority over the pack. However, he did not live long as he contracted tularemia (a bacterial disease). His son succeeded him and lived to be seven years old. The Vyncises reigned for a fair five generations. Bali was the last Vyncise to reign. Bali Vyncise died before he could have heirs, leaving the throne open for a new Age and a new family to arise.
The Fifth Age: Reign of the Cynes
Ecthelel Cyne was an ambitious young male and he seized the throne before anyone else knew what was going on. He was a year old when proclaimed Chief of the Inkiths, making him the youngest wolf to have ever ruled in the history of the pack. Due to his youth and arrogant personality, he was quite neglectful of his subordinates. He also had a reputation for fathering several illegitimate litters in spite of having two “queens.” The inner family rivalry to see which child would be the heir escalated to several murders. Meanwhile, citizens were being treated unfairly. This resulted in one of the worst uprisings in pack’s history. There was much bloodshed. Ecthelel Cyne died soon after his third year. This left his numerous sons to squabble over leadership. Many sons would achieve temporary leadership but none would last a single generation. In total the Fifth Age lasted six generations but none of the leaders lived long or held the crown for an extended period of time. The last Cyne to rule was Gylex and he lived for only four years.
The Sixth Age: The Fall of Tribalism
During the Cynes’ reign, the politics and structure of the pack had fallen into disrepair. Several different families tried to take advantage of the situation but failed miserably. Most civilians believed that the pack would dissolve and some even left. During this period, no specific family had sole control over the pack. By this time the Inkiths had renamed their land to Skellein (The name change had occurred somewhere between the fifth and sixth age). This loosely controlled group was beginning to self-destruct. It would take nearly four generations before a major change took place.
The Seventh Age: Reconstruction and the Lavois
Finally, after an eternity of waiting for some decent authority, a male by the name of Orion Lavoi decided to take matters in to his own paws. He convinced his family and several other families that they could overthrow their current ruler. Together they assassinated the reigning monarch and divided powers amongst themselves. Everyone agreed that Orion should be the Imperator (a term that became widely used after the Sixth Age). He began the long process of repairing the broken state of the pack and restoring the faith of the people. The Seventh Age lasted for nearly eight generations, outlasting the Tands. The last monarch was Arveh Lavoi-Serpentarius, who also became the first sole female ruler and renamed the pack to Skeletos.
The Eighth Age: House Serpentarius and the Age of Modernism
The Julius Serpentarius, grandson of Arveh Lavoi-Serpentarius, succeeded his grandmother because his father died in a tragic accident. In a weird twist of fate, Julius’ son, Draken, would also suffer death during a hunting accident. Draken’s son is Dracul Maximus Serpentarius. Meaning, it is currently the fifth generation of House Serpentarius.

Meaning, it is currently the fifth generation of House Serpentarius.
Ecthelel Cyne was a notorious playboy and sired numerous children, who would then also go and have litters. Most of the current populous of the pack-born wolves will have bloodlines that trace back to Ecthelel Cyne. (So for those who make pack-born wolves, you could possibly have him/her a distant relative of a Cyne).
Dracul's mother, Mirellye, ruled the pack for a year after her mate died before handing over the throne to Dracul. Making her the second female to have sole control over Skeletos.
Mirellye also happens to be one of few whose bloodline traces all the way back to the Third Age under the reign of the Tands. Draken's bloodline can be traced back to the Vyncises. This makes Dracul a Serpentarius, Lavoi, Vyncise, and a very distant descendant of the Tand family.
